Austin is a self-proclaimed "intensity aficionado". He thrives on the satisfaction and self-learning that comes from pushing one's limits. Currently, he's a graduate student in Biomedical Engineering at Southern Illinois University. He has a background in team sports, and has previously rowed for the Oregon State crew team and volunteered as a football coach at Crescent Valley High School.
Austin was drawn to CrossFit's unique structure. It provides a physical outlet that can scale to accommodate and challenge people of any physical capacity. Regardless of where someone starts, CrossFit will grow with them and supply increasingly technical and physically demanding challenges. These challenges will propel them towards self-improvement and cultivate skills and discipline that can extend to all aspects of life.
He likes to stretch his boundaries through CrossFit and his academics, but Austin believes in keeping things in perspective and his personal goals are simply "to continually improve my health and happiness". As an instructor, he strives to help others to pursue their own goals.
Outside of school and CrossFit, Austin enjoys immersive fantasy games and novels, making terrible puns, trail running, and writing.
